Luke 2:7

Good evening everyone watching by video this evening,,, it's time for our weekly devotion,,, as we continue our walk with God this week. I'm praying that all of you are having a wonderful week so far. As I've said the last several weeks,,, we need to continue to remember those that are dealing with this virus. Those that are sick,,, since there are many others dealing with this sickness as it continues to grow and,,, those that have lost loved ones,,, we need to continue to remember them as well. Remember the medical teams that are dealing with this and any others that must work and take a chance of contacting this virus. Also,,, continue to remember those on our prayer list,,, and our country and it’s leaders. --------------- Our devotion this evening comes from Billy Graham's "Unto the Hills: A Daily Devotional". Our scripture will be Luke 2:7 and I'll be reading from the Holman Christian Standard Bible. Luke 2:7 (KJV 1900) — 7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. God bless the reading and the hearing of your word this evening. Let us pray: Dear Lord,,, as we begin this evening,,, with all that are listening and watching by video,,, we ask that you open our ears to hear and our hearts and minds to receive the message that you have for us today,,, In Jesus' name I pray,,, Amen. --------------- When I seen the scripture that Billy Graham had chosen for today,,, my first thought was,,, why is he using this scripture today? Shouldn't this be used at Christmas? But then I read further and I could see why. --------------- And he titled this devotion,,, "MAKE ROOM FOR GOD". He begins by saying,,, "No room for Jesus? No room for the King of kings? No,,, but yet,,, there was room for others and for other things. There was no room for Jesus in the world that He had made,,, — ,,, can you really and truly believe this,,, can you imagine! The creator of the universe,,, the One responsible for our existence,,, and our world,,, everything that we know,,, was denied a room because all of them were full! Billy Graham said,,, "It was true that first Christmas; and tragically, it’s true every day of the year. Things have not really changed since that Bethlehem night two thousand years ago. God is still in the fringes of most of our lives. We fit Him in when it is convenient for us,,, but we become irritated when He makes demands on us. If God would only stay in His little box and come out when we pull the string. Our lives are so full. There is so much to be done. Are we in danger in all of our busy activities of excluding from our hearts and lives the One who made us? Do we have time enough to begin each day by reading God’s Word and praying to the One who made us? Do we have time to make room for God in our prayers? Do we have time to ask God what He wants us to do? And he ends the devotion with these words: “Oh, come to my heart, Lord Jesus; there is room in my heart for you.” Prayer: Our Father and our God, We always seem to have room for what we want. Forgive us for not always having room for You and Your Son. Please take up residence in our heart. Live in us,,, love through us,,, help us show Your love to all. In Jesus' precious name. Amen.
